Artist's Comments
I met this old man in the Souk of Sana'a. And I hesitated to ask if I could make a portrait of him as he obviously was very poor. He even could not afford a decent djambia (dagger), but substituted it by an old leg of a chair, and was wearing very old clothes.
But this did not affect his strong sense of human dignity. This is what I tried to picture. Yes, you saw this one in color before... digital shot Comments
Striking, you can almost get lost in the depths of his eyes!
-- My Gallery Mother Nature makes the best images! -- Michael The ultimate source of wisdom and happiness. :-] This is a wonderful portrait, Michael. I might not have identified the chair-leg if you hadn't mentioned it - it's a fabulous touch and somehow adds to the feeling of dignity rather than detracting from it, as it might
-- Read my column, my poetry, interviews and short stories at AidanSemmens.co.uk that is exactly the point in my perception as well!
-- Michael The ultimate source of wisdom and happiness. :-] yes, I think so too.
